Vocational Technical Teacher Literary Test (VTEL) Prep Course

Taking any standardized test can be difficult, especially if some time has passed since you last sat in a classroom and were asked to write an essay.

This in-person preparation class will concentrate on test phobia, technology phobia, standard writing conventions and composition. Materials will be shared with participants.

The preparation encompasses close reading skills, grammar skills and the mechanics of writing, so participants are ready for both the Reading and Writing exams required for licensure.  A major focus of the class is practicing both multi-paragraph essay writing and the development of summary writing, which are requirements for the Writing exam.

This two-session review course will offer practice with VTEL style questions and scoring rubrics to allow test takers an opportunity to become familiar with the expectations of each test and the online testing process, and to gain confidence in the ability to do well on the VTEL. Writing prompts will be given for participants to complete in their own time.
