WASHINGTON, D.C.– The Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA) proudly acknowledges the impactful advocacy endeavors of Superintendents Eric Duda, Karen Maguire, and Ernie Houle during their recent representation of Massachusetts Chapter 74 Vocational Technical & Agricultural Education in Washington, D.C.

Throughout their visit, the delegation engaged in a series of constructive meetings aimed at advancing vocational education initiatives. Notably, discussions were held with Department of Labor Deputy Assistant Secretary Manny Lamarr regarding Hazardous Occupations for Minors. Additionally, productive exchanges took place with representatives from the offices of Senator Markey and Senator Warren, furthering the advocacy goals of the delegation.

On the House side, Superintendents Duda, Maguire, and Houle convened with congressional staff from the offices of Congresswoman Lori Trahan, Congressmen Jake Auchincloss, and Richard Neal. Furthermore, they were honored with a personal audience with Congressman Jim McGovern to deliberate on the importance of vocational education.

In addition to these pivotal meetings, MAVA’s Supers Delegation participated in a reception hosted by the National House/Senate CTE Caucus, underscoring the significance of Career and Technical Education (CTE) advancement at the national level.

Advocacy remains paramount for the continued progress of CTE in Massachusetts, and MAVA is unwavering in its commitment to spearheading efforts that enhance vocational technical and agricultural education opportunities across the state.
